Professor Moussavian studied at the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel. After receiving his doctorate in the field of kidney transplantation and working for several years as a resident physician, during which he gained his first experience, he moved to Saarland University Hospital in Homburg in 2006. Following the completion of his training in visceral and endovascular surgery, he obtained his specialist titles in general surgery and vascular surgery.
As part of the explantation and transplantation program at Saarland University Hospital, Professor Moussavian was involved in liver transplantation as deputy head of the department. In his role as head of the Department of Vascular Surgery and medical director of the Vascular Center, he was also authorized to provide comprehensive postgraduate training for vascular surgeons. Alongside his clinical work, he continued his research at the Institute for Clinical and Experimental Surgery in the fields of transplantation and vascular surgery, and in 2011 he received his habilitation on the topic of liver transplantation surgery.
In 2013, Prof. Moussavian began working at the Endovascular Center Lingen, where he earned the titles of Endovascular Surgeon (DGG), Endovascular Specialist (DGG), and Specialist in Visceral Surgery. Since February 2015, Prof. Moussavian has been working at the CENTER HOSPITALIER EMILE MAYRISCH in Luxembourg, supporting the development of a unique interdisciplinary vascular center and a teaching hospital affiliated with Saarland University Hospital.
